The OM1 typically has an orange jacket and a core size of 62.5 inches. It can support 10 Gigabit Ethernet in lengths up to 33 meters. It is typically used in 100 Mbit Ethernet applications. This type usually uses an LED light source. Similarly, the OM2 has an orange jacket and uses an LED light source, but has a smaller core size of 50 meters. It supports 10 Gigabit Ethernet in lengths up to 82 meters, but is more commonly used for 1 Gigabit Ethernet applications. Similar to the OM2, the OM3 has a 50-inch core size, but the cable is optimized for laser devices, and the OM3 supports 10 Gigabit Ethernet in lengths up to 300 meters.    In addition, the OM3 can support 40 Gigabit and 100 Gigabit Ethernet, but is most commonly used for 10 Gigabit Ethernet. oM4 was developed specifically for VSCL laser transmission and enables 10 Gigabit Ethernet connectivity over distances of up to 550 meters, compared to 300 meters for the OM3. oM5 Fiber, also known as Broadband Multimode Fiber, is a new type of multimode fiber that is backwards compatible with the OM4. its core size is the same as the OM2, but it is also compatible with the OM3. The core size is the same as OM2, OM3, and OM4, and the color of the OM5 fiber jacket has been chosen to be lime green.VANDESAIL - Accelerating the world with technology.
